?The Sovereign Punjaub? is a map originally produced on March 2nd, 1848 by James Wyld, a geographer to the Queen & H.R.H. Prince Albert Charing. With a light green background, this multicolored map features all the major cities and townships of the Panjab of 1848 in their original/old names and spellings, including the spellings of Panjab, as used in the title. An extensive network of roads through it and its neighboring states along with the military stations of the Bengal army is its main feature. It also displays the population/townships settled around the banks of the five rivers along with their tributaries intact. its non-availability anywhere else in the world, except the British Museum, adds to its archival value and worthiness as an antique, reasserting and emphasizing the place of the Sikh nation-state in modern history.
